Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a speaker as a consultant, columnist syndicated to a speaker as an author, author, and television show host. In 2001, she established The Corcoran Group in New York City. The company was sold to the brokerage to NRT for $66 million. Shortly thereafter, she exited from the company. Corcoran is among ABC's first Shark Tank investors. To date she has appeared on every 12 seasons of Shark Tank. She has participated in 53 deals as of February, 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 purchase to cover 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the youngest of 10 children in a working class Irish-Catholic family. Florence Corcoran's mother was an errand-taker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. Her father was constantly changing jobs throughout Corcoran’s life. At times, her family relied on the delivery of free food from a local grocer. Corcoran states her father was drunk who treated her mother with disrespectful and disrespect. Corcoran was a struggle throughout her education before discovering that she was dyslexic. Corcoran attended a Catholic elementary school, and later began high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran was proficient in several courses during her first year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
